Mom's B'Day Card

Feels like i had been gone a really long time and i think i was. I was sadly down with viral fever and totally bed-ridden and strictly under a lotta medication. So, it took me a long time to recover and thankfully i feel much better now. When i was sick i was in no mood to do any thing even craft!! i was really amazed at myself . Well mom's birthday came along just at the right time to get me back on track . I have really missed my blog and all my wonderful blog-frens and followers and blog walking all day and the wonder full comments you guys give me...

So, here is the card i created for my maa!!

Maa just loves PINK so it had to be a pink card for her!! She loves frilly lacy delicate and just everything out of a fairy book !! So, i had to ditch my old shabby chic and vintagy ways lol... and go down the pink road... As you can see i couldn't do everything in pink i just couldnt!!

The card stock is cream and the pp is a pink gift wrapping paper actually which has this gorgeous copper leaves embossed on it. I don't know why after my Alice in Wonderland card i am stuck on this step up card. I looks so gorgeous and the card just becomes a centre piece!! Well i cut the heart using a Shilpi Heart template cutter and added some die cut flourishes i cut on my sizzix. And added some ceramic roses i just love these things and they were perfect for this card. The oval tag i hand cut and i added pearl silver paper on both the heart and the tag and inked the edges wid red ink also the pp before i adhered them. I stenciled the sentiments wid my white gel pen.. and added some pearls and lace and a piece of silver ribbon to provide aesthetic balance...

The cream and copper flower is from itsy-bitsy!! It was like magic all the embellishments and the paper just went together with each other like a dream.. i made the card like in an hour wid zero planning or layout!! So, it was fun...

I hope my maa likes it ... and i hope you guys too..

lotsa love

Scrapbook Mini for sis: Draft - I

My sis went on Trip to Singapore and Malaysia a couple of months ago and she brought back a whole lot of paraphernalia and junk; namely.. ticket stubs, coupons, maps, brochures and about hundreds of pics!! And she asked me to make an album for her . Well i graciously said yes.. but that was before i saw her collection of ahem!! junk!! lol!! But as always i am up for a challenge! i love to push myself.
So, among her junk i found this wonderful map of Singapore which is round and folds up like a "pie", this map gave me an instant light bulb moment. So i decided to cut up each "pie-piece" and turn them into an individual page and it will also retain its original round structure when laid out open.
Here is how i did it--
This was the basic map.. A lot of you have asked me how i do my inking so i am going to talk you guys through this one.. As you can see half of it has been inked yellow and the rest is the original colour the yellow is very light as its the first coat. Since, the map was very big i did it i half's. i thought it was best to ink the whole thing before i cut the pages up.

Here, you see one half is done , after two coats of yellow i go in wid the brown ink and you guys can see the difference !! It starts to look totally grungy already.... Here is my pp its one of the most gorgeous pp i have ever seen its got postcards and letters and postage stamps all across it !! here it is before i inked it:-

Here is the pp after i was done with it not, its a bit messy but doesn't take a lotta time and the result is superb !! although i do say so myself.. hahaha

So, after i was done with the map and the pp and after i had thoroughly dried them both with my blow drier!! I cut up the piece of the map into the "pie pieces" a total of eight pieces . To give you the idea of the map imagine a family-size pizza and each slice is as big as one page lol!! So, the map pieces where my guide i stuck them on light weight chipboard and then flipped them and stuck them on the pp i did one piece/page at a time as i wanted them to be in sync and not jumbled up cos when they open up they had to make sense on both sides lol!!

So, here is my hard work!! the final pages:-

Since this post became too long the second draft will follow as to how i got the whole thing together and made it to look like an album !!

Crafty JC Challenge 3: Be Inspired "Draft #2"

This is my second card for the CraftyJcChallenge 3:Be Inspired.. Its d second cos i had been outta town so i cudnt fit into the Digi stamp as i had gone ahead wid my Alice in wonderland card.... This is a special card i made it with Karen from karen's doodles has been very generous and gifted me the wid the wonderful digi stamp.. it was perfect for the occasion Its called "first kiss " Ohlala.. such a cute stamp luv it..
Herenit is....
About the card.. well i tried something wild wid my sizzix.. I don't know how many of u are familiar wid parchment craft, but recently i had bought a kit. So, i had a wild idea !! Usually u emboss it wid d embossing tools and so i thought of giving it a go wid my cuttle bug embossing folder through the sizzix. And the results were awesome and so beautiful, that's what u see backed up in the heart.
I cut out the heart first then the parchment to fit. Layered the peach card stock after i had inked the edges. I added the lace and the pearls. Stamped "i love you" and added the lil' heart i cut wid the sizzix. I used dimensional to adhere the image. The big heart on the left is also die cut and i backed the leftover parchment paper. I punched the butterflies out of the base card stock and the parchment and layered them, and simply adhered them n flicked the wings upward to add dimension.
Hope u guys like my card.. I loved making it as i made it for my love..

Crafty JC Challenge 3: Be Inspired

I am so excited as well as thrilled as i am the guest DT for the first ever Indian Card Challenge CraftyJC Challenge. Thank you Jaya!! This is my first time ever as a DT. and i was a lil' nervous.
The sponsor for this challenge is Karen's Doodles who is an amazing artist and has some really amazing stamps. Check out her blog . The winner of this month's challange wil get 3 digital stamps of their choice. Simply wow!! The theme of this months Challenge is "Be Inspired" and Boy was i inspired!! Hee hee... So, here is my inspiration straight outta a fairytale book!! Although Strictly speaking it is a movie poster of the movie on an all time classic and my personal favourite book "Alice in Wonderland".To be honest this is such a wonderful challenge with so much potential and "Alice" theme being sucha hot favourite wid crafters these days. But i felt at many times i had bitten more than i can chew because the card became really very intricate and complicated. That's so me i have a tendency to get carried away wid my projects and get too ambitious. My actual dilemma was i had guests over and no time atall to craft. So i still feel i could have done more wid the card but still here it is......It is a Step card. The base card stock is black. All the images you see are digital and i colored them using my Watercolour pencils. Then, i felt they were too bright for the pattern paper i had chosen. So , as usual i opted for Vintage (i so loveee vintage). Here, i used tea bag staining technique to age the images so. I hand cut the grass and the tree you see in the back. The entire card looks like a vintage pop-up story book. And that was the look i was aiming for but i still feel i could have done some more!!
Here, is the card in detail so you can understand its construction a bit better!!

This is a sketch of the basic card structure. You can always change the measurements as per your desire. This is the beauty of this card the possibilities are limitless.

Materials Required:

  1. Card stock Black and white 12"x12"
  2. Digital image/s
  3. Watercolour pencils
  4. Aqua brush
  5. Glue, glue dots, foam adhesive(dimensionals)
  6. Patterned paper
  7. A tea bag and some warm water
  8. Stationary like scissors, pencil, scale, paper trimmer, scoring board,
  9. Blow dryer

How To

  • Print out what ever images you want on the white card stock and paint them using our colour pencils, use the aqua brush to blend the colours. Cut them out.
  • Soak a tea bag in some warm water and gently dab on the images, blow dry between coats. Give as many coats as u need to obtain the desired stain.
  • Using the above sketch as reference create your basic card structure from the black card stock.
  • Cut the pattern paper and layer the front of the card.
  • Cut out a skeleton tree using the black card stock as well
  • Add the images using dimensionals
  • Add any embellishments if desired
  • I didn't add any embellishments, but i just cut some coordinating pp to look like grass and scrunched the edges wid my nails to give them dimension and added a tag and the door frame.

Just a little note:

  • If you are inspired by my inspiration, you are free to use any card construct and image related to Alice in wonderland even a quote will do.
  • You can also base your card on Alice. the Mad hatter, The Cheshire cat, The Red Queen, The Blue worm, The white rabbit or any other character from the book
  • When you enter your card pls add your inspirational image also .
  • Your creation should be unique and new.
  • Link it to the blog CraftyJc Challenge 3:Be inspired

  • ciao

Happy Birthday Fairy Card

I finally got my card done. This is such a gorgeous card even though i do say so myself!! Every card i make i show them to my hubby when i am done n his eyes popped !!loll!! he said it was awesome(so so happy cos he knows zilch bout crafts).

Well about the card this card conveniently fit into the requirements for a lot of challenges so it was perfect. the image i stamped and colored using my water color pencils and then i did some highlighting wid my white gel pen.

I tried a new technique for this card, I 'd bought a parchment embossing craft kit last month and i tried my hand at it. So, that's wat u see , the wings are parchment i traced them on the parchment and embossed it. Also, the "Happy Birthday" was embossed and punched wid my scalloped puncher and i went over the punched edges wid my gel pen.
The basic card base is baby pink card stock . I cut out the stars and the moon on the dark blue card stock and layered a silver paper in between . I used dimensional tape to add a dept to the cut out outs.
Added the fairy and embellished it id pearls and some antennas and a lil' bling for her hair. Added some lace and ribbon at the bottom and finished off wid some more pearls.
I am entering this card for the following challenges:-
Simon Says Challenge:- Pearls and Lace
Flutter By Wednesday:- Sketch Challenge

Shabby Chic: Slider Card

This month the new challenge on CraftyJc Challenge is a Yummy Challenge Recipe
The ingredients are
  1. Patterned Paper
  2. Colours :- Pink and Brown
  3. Embellishments

So immediately i thought SHABBY CHIC!! And to add to the fun, the challenge for Scrappy Frogs Challenge blog is SLIDER CARDS. So the heroic effort of marrying the two challenges turned out to be a CHALLENGE indeed!! Hence, i combined only two challenges any more and it would have been a mess so here is my card...

About the card i took some coppery brown handmade paper and constructed the basic slider card base. I punched the entire card with my scalloped scallop punch!!(lol! tats a mouth full). Next i split the front of the card into two and added patterned paper which is pink tissue with leaf motifs on it. Added the punch and eyelets and twined ribbon through it. Stamped "wedding" and added some bling . On the larger front half i a piece of a map i had aged using coffee staining and burnt edges. I added a strip of paper ribbon i inked to match the satin ribbon. I love this image of the vintage lady so so elegant . I inked the edges wid brown ink and lastly added a flower which i also inked brown to go with the colour scheme. Originally the flower was white and made of plastic fiber , it took a lotta coats of ink but i hav discovered how to work id my inks (finally) even on stubborn surfaces like plastic and metal.

The inside:- the slider mechanism i used plastic bag as the band . The base is pink card stock i punched using my doily punch and inked it wid red ink. Then the top i used the same patterned paper punch the edges and inked in brown. I punched the two butterflies on the top layer and then punched two out of the pink card stock. Inked them added a lil' bling and added them in the negative space of the punch. Added some bling flowers.

I have to admit this card took me a lotta time to finish as i kept on improvising as i went along although i had planned the layout to begin with.

Vintage Scroll Card

This was pending for so long i finally finished it, this scroll card is actually a part of my wedding mini which i promise i will upload soon, as its still a work in progress.
I took a simple plain white handmade paper and cut it into a rectangular shape and adhered the two craft sticks(they are wooden) on each ends. I then painted a border using gold acrylic paint . Then i diluted some coffee in a little water and using a thick paint brush slathered on liberally over the paper and the thick . I alternated a coat then used a blow drier to dry and then repeated till i was happy wid the look , To get the stained effect i blotched coffee randomly on the surface and blew dry and then went all over to get it a stained effect. Also, coat the back 2 layers is enough for the rear.

I burnt the edges to make it even more grungy. If u want i wil do the video for it. I then used a mask and spray painted the image on the top using gold acrylic spray paint. At the bottom i added some sealing wax and used an old coin to get an imprint. I added the tassels to the top stick and a nice cord for tying the scroll together.

P.S.- i used a lotta layers of coffee so the paper when rolled sorta cracked at places adding to the effect.

A really simple vintage themed card, i am in love wid "vintage". The base card stock is a cream colored and the patterened paper is 100% organic handmade glitter paper. I distressed the edges of the patterened paper wid black ink . Distressed the photo edges and added some black cotton lace which i had woven wid some thin blue ribbon. I cut out a window and backed it with some handmade paper which i atamped on with a handwriting stamp. Added a couple of rhinestones for glitter!! And finally i added a feather butterfly i had added some glitter 3d glitter to it. I added punched letter sentiments "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"
I am really happy the way it came out simple yet ellegant!!

Been away too long from the blog, well had a really busy social calender. lol! Any way but craft is always on the top of my mind i even think in craft-ology!! if it makes any sense, when i am not crafting i keep thinking about projects. It takes me a lotta time to get my projects done thats cos i plan n think n re-think n it goes on, til i get the result i like. lol!!
I am in love wid VINTAGE i lovveee the shabby chic look isnt it awesome !! I have been thinking of making a couple of minis but havent found the right paper, here in India its a bit tough to get . But guess what i then came across some really gorgeous paper(wil do a haul video) and all made by an Indian paper Co. 100% organic recycled cotton all in the shabby chic vintage look .. OH!! i nearly fainted.
Any way getting too the card Simon says Challenge this week has a song inspiration challengeand my song is TRUE COLOURS BY CINDY LAUPER i love that song !! And Alota Rubber Stamps at the same time came up wid the Distress Challenge so here is my card where i tried to combine the two :-

I used my postcard patterned paper on a navy blue card stock my card is a 5.5"x 8". I tore the edges and then inked them. Then added some eyelets and wove a ribbon, and layered a white silk lace at the bottom of the tear to add interest. The photo i printed on some hand made paper and the reason it looks so vintagy is the secret in my paper the texture and the color gives it that effect (hehe ;-) !!) I distressed the edges of the photo and added a heart shaped bead to it.

The brown paper u see underneath is a map i aged using staining technique and burnt the edges, i added the velvet petal (as i am not a flower stampsperson!!) i stamped on wid some text stamps to give it an interesting look. I added the lil bouquets which i bought readymade at my local craft store. The butterfly is a feather butterfly was in the wrong colour so i dyed it using some blue ink and then wiped off using a baby wipe.
At the bottom u see the a black cotton lace which i layered under a dangly charm lace(I jus luv 'em!!) I also added some bling and stamped ITS YOUR DAY(its barely vissible tho). Hope u like my card Its unconventional no pink or plum but thats how i am, i like blue and m not a pink person i think it works great here!! enjoy

If you want instructions post a comment i wil b happy to do a video..

The challenges i am entering this card are:

Achooo!!! Down wid flu!!

Am down with flu !! so no cooking and no house chores!!! I spent the entire day shopping,, on Etsy and Ebay offcourse! I am slowly trying to build a collction of tools and materials as nothing is available in Indias so i hav to order evrything online. It took a whole day cos i was looking for sales and comparing prices you kno i have 2 really watch the rates as $1 = Rs.50 !! wow tats high.
I bought a lotta goodies a couple stamps and punches mostly, am building the basic stash first the i will graduate to more advanced stuff like embossing!! The heat embossing kinds.. it really fascinates me as i have seen a lot of videos on youtube. Am still learning but still i think i should wait before i start invsting in it.. lol take care.. achooo!!achoo!!

Hey Boy!! I love you Card

This is another card i made as a combined entry for a couple of interesting challenges out there. in the blog world, i loveentering such challenges they are so much fun and its amazing to see the amount of talent that is out there.

Well about the card its a simple 6"x 6" card, the front flap is 1/2" shorter than the back and i added pink cotton lace to make up the size difference. I went with a pinup girl cos i love them they are oo girlie and so colourful, completely appropriate for the Are you Girlie Girl challenge.

I love the combination of pink and black, so i had to go with that!! Iused stiff cotton lace to make it look extra feminine. The paper i used are all organic handmade paper and none of them are branded, except for the zebra printed paper. Which is produced my an Indian paper company called HANDPAPER. The pink paper is coruggated patterened and the base is simple baby pink cardstock.

I used a couple of metal heart shaped brads and a simple hand made paper flower as embelishments. The sentiment i punched out using my alpha punches and stuck them on a black ribbon and added metal brads for "O" and to the exclamation mark.

I used watercolor pencils to color her . and added some bling to adorn her hair and a lil sequin for her earing. I loved how this card turned out .i used a tiny hart shaped hair clip on the ribbon. Initially it was a dusty pink, i ent over it with a pink nail enamel and i got the effect i was looking for, it turned out nice and glossy.

The other challenges i entered are
Flowery Challenge from Stamp Something
Congratulations from Totally Gorjuss

This is my entry for the Simon says card Challenge. Every wednesday of each week they post a new challenge and any one can partcipate, they have such fun and innovative challenges. Also their DT are so talented and they create such amazing cards... This my first attempt at participating in their challenge.. with my fingers crossed here goes nothing.

This card is a weding themed sorta card with the bright Indian wedding colour pallete and offcourse the traditional peacock. All the paper used are organic handmade paper. They are not branded , but they are all gorgeous. I did some mixed media with the wire branch and some velvet leaves and added some flower buttons. I added some ribbon and a some sequins for embellishments. At the bottom i added a ribbon with danggling sequin charms , i love to add such stuff to my projects as they jiggle and move and add charm to the projects.I stamped the peacock and cut it out and used demensionals to give it a 3d effect. It was a lotta of fun making this card .. enjoy...

The red and gold patterned peice you see below the peacock is not paper its silk brocade, I have developed a simple technique to transfer it on paper and it looks absolutely brilliant, you can use it like paper and trim and cut into any shape. It adds a real ornate look to the card making it very ethnic looking.
The pic didnt come out so well, i am still learning to photograph!!
